Gwen Casten Impact Grants

Gwen was an integral part of the music family at North.  She was a section captain in the Trojan Marching Band and she was the principal trumpet player in the Wind Ensemble.  She participated in the jazz program as well as the pep band, pit orchestra, and Symphonic Orchestra. She was a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and won a senior solo concerto competition. She exemplified the best of humanity through her musicianship, citizenship, and kindness, and we were privileged to present her with a DGN FOFA senior scholarship.

Our community is deeply saddened to lose such a talented young musician whose presence impacted so many.  We plan that your donation will help inspire future musicians to live like Gwen and “lead with love”

About the Gwen Casten Impact Grants

WHAT DOES THE GRANT FUND?

Instrument Upgrade Assistance ($1,000 - $2,000)

Full Tuition Private Lesson Assistance (up to $1,000 / year).

Partial Private Lesson Assistance (up to $500 / year).

WHO IS HELPED?

Music faculty may nominate students to be recipients of a Gwen Casten Impact Grant. Ideally, students will be current 9th, 10th and 11th graders, with financial barriers that make it difficult to take private music lessons or upgrade their instrument/equipment.

HOW IS FOFA INVOLVED?

Grants for private lessons will be paid by DGN-FOFA directly to the private music teacher. Grants for instrument & equipment upgrades will be paid on a reimbursement basis, once DGN-FOFA is provided with documentation of the upgrade.
